At the Tshwane Place of Safety Association (TPOSA), we are devoted to creating safe, nurturing spaces for the most vulnerable children in our community. Under our umbrella are three special homes — Swallows Nest, Tshwane Haven, and Tshwane House of Grace — each with a unique mission, but united in love, faith, and compassion.
Our story began in 2003, It all began in 2003, when a small group of caring hearts in Tshwane saw a heartbreaking reality, more babies and young children were being abandoned, neglected, or left without anyone to care for them. There were few safe places where these little ones could go, and the need was growing by the day. From those humble beginnings, the Tshwane Place of Safety Association was born — a family built not by blood, but by love and purpose. Over time, what began as one small safe house grew into three special homes — Swallows Nest, Tshwane Haven, and Tshwane House of Grace — each created to meet a unique need in a child’s life.
Over the years, more than 1450 children have passed through its doors. Many arrived fragile, ill, or abandoned — placed in our care through various organizations.
As time went on, some of these little ones never found a forever home. But they did find a forever family. Under Miss Birrell’s loving care, These homes grew from a place of temporary safety into a lifelong home, offering love, stability, and belonging to children who had nowhere else to go.
Today, the Tshwane Place of Safety Association stands as a beacon of hope, compassion, and commitment — a family built on faith and love, changing lives one precious child at a time.
We rely entirely on the generosity of individuals, families, and companies who choose to stand beside us. Your support helps us continue to provide care, dignity, and a future filled with hope for every child we welcome through our doors.
